As of July 29th, 2025: i hate it here fr!

Katie, first and foremost, Is.

Unfortunately, not much (of interest) to say. I'm a PhD student in Philosophy, studying the typical continental canon as thoroughly as I can. I'm particularly interested in philosophy of the body (in relation to harm, queer theory, horror, anxiety, disgust, etc.,), Adorno, the use of ludic mediums as objects of aesthetic analysis, etc etc etc.

I'm still learning a lot, and rounding out the contours of what I'm narrowly interestes in is harder than expected. Since beginning my graduate study (... three years ago now...) I've learned that I'm deeply interested in a lot of things. Epistemology of intuition/injustice, philosophy of fascism, Kierkegaard, Fanon, Levinas, HEGEL (comeback of the fucking century I'm telling you), and I've even developed a tenuous-at-best love/hate relationship with some of Derrida's works.

I also enjoy

  • Knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cross stitch, and visible mending (I'm also learning to sew clothes/items!)
  • Horror media, particularly the medium of video game. Some of my favorites (with some short write-ups as to why..) can be found here!
  • Drag, performance art, philosophy of gender/expression (particularly Goffman atm, but I'm taking a class this semester that I'm certain will expand my horizons vastly).
  • Interdisciplinary academic work! Included but not limited to:
    • Blending philosophical and sociological theory
    • Phenomenology of illness/disability/queerness
    • Philosophy of horror and its relationship to the body, fascism, self/identity, sexuality, etc.,
    • Literacy is a new one for me; I finished James Paul Gee's What Video Games Have to Teach Us about Learning and Literacy and while it certainly wasn't perfect, it intrigued me deeply! So I'm hoping to read/think more about literacy/pedagogy and how philosophy might aid with that.
    • Logic-based therapy
    • A bunch more that I'm probably forgetting! I contain... several things, if not multitudes.
  • Warhammer 40k lore :^)
  • Detective media/video games in which you have to take notes.
  • Robots :3
  • League of Legends esports, especially when hook supports are meta.
